Poultry farming has proved to be a very lucrative business not only in Nigeria but in the world at large. Some poultry farms are owned by private corporations and are usually managed by experienced farmers. Sometimes these farms are run by technicians who have learned about poultry farming through on-the-job training and formal schooling. Poultry farms often specialize in particular areas of poultry production. Some farms are mainly concerned with egg production. Other farms produce poultry that is sold as meat. Poultry farms may also specialize in breeding and selling chickens that are good egg layers.
Most meals in Nigeria are not complete without poultry output like egg or meat. Nigeria has over 170 million growing population that demand for meat or egg on a daily basis. With increasing awareness on health implication of red meat, they are ever increasing demand for white meat and livestock are source of white meat.
The Choba market and students of Uniport would be our target market awareness which will be made by means of advertisement. The advertisement will be made on flyers, handbills, and one on one marketing will be done to eateries, restaurants and companies that demand for our product. Marketing activities include among other grading quality, promotions, packaging and value adding these activities are essentials as they will lead to large volume of sales of product quickly as possible resulting to increase of income
Eggs should be graded by size and labeled according to it weight. During selection and grading, care must be applied to ensure that weight is uniformed to avoid rejection from customers
Price: Each bird will be sold at 4000 each at the end of the process
These are the types of equipments that would be used on the farm: Day old feeders, Day old Drinker, Feeders, Drinkers, Spade, Head pan, Thermometer, Measuring Scale, Battery Cage, Feeds, Incubator, Heater.
The availability of the raw materials in the part of the country would also be considered because in composing the feed for the birds we would need yellow maize which is not grown in Rivers state which would require us to import from other states. We would also consider the cost of equipment such as the feeders and the battery cage if the amount is more than the farmer’s budget he would have to substitute for using the less costly equipments
FEASIBILITY STUDIES OF STARTING A POULTRY BUSINESS
A broiler is any chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus) that is bred and raised specifically for meat production. Most commercial broilers reach slaughter weight between four and seven weeks of age, although slower growing breeds reach slaughter weight at approximately 14 weeks of age. Typical broilers have white feathers and yellowish skin. Broiler or sometimes broiler-fryer is also used sometimes to refer specifically to younger chickens under 2.0 kilograms (4+1⁄2 lb), as compared with the larger roasters.
The firm will be a commercial poultry farm; therefore it will require a full time labour and geared towards productivity on a scale for the sales of broilers. Better productivity well skilled and trained personnel would be hired in other to be able to handle situations in the farm that will need their knowledge

|Feeders||15 big feeders||30000|
|Newspaper (Chick Stage)||20pieces|
|Head pan.||4 Pieces||8000|
ANNUAL OPERATIONAL EXPENSES

Cost of Sales: The birds are to be sold at 3month and each are to be sold at 4000 naira, a kilo is 2000 and at 3month it’s weight is about 2-2.5kg
If the birds weigh 2kg each will be 4000, and if it’s well manage and taking care of, we will have about 998 birds, mortality of 2 assuming.
Net profit 3,992,000
Net profit = Total Cost – total profit
= 2856,000 – 3992,000
Net profit = N1,136,000000
From the above findings we have put into understanding that with the right inputs put in the poultry would be able to maximize profit
Bearing in mind the significant bfactors like marketing and economy study in this report, I recommend that the project will be productive big established in River state, Nigeria.if the production cost estimate presented herein is lesser than the budget and profit of the project, I strongly recommend the project bad profitable one if ventured.
