This has resulted in the company switching from its previous logo to a new one, which Vanguard determined authoritatively would better symbolize its evolution beyond only voice to other digital platforms such as financial technology, artificial intelligence, and large data sets, among many others.

About MTN
MTN Nigeria is a member of the MTN Group, which is Africa’s largest cellular telecommunications business. MTN Nigeria is headquartered in Lagos. Following the much acclaimed Nigerian GSM auction, which was conducted by the Nigerian Communications Commission earlier in the year, MTN became the first GSM network to make a call on May 16, 2001, becoming the world’s first GSM network. Following that, the company began full-scale commercial operations in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt, with more to come.
In January 2001, MTN spent $285 million for one of four GSM licenses in Nigeria, making it the most expensive of the four. To date, more than US$1.8 billion has been invested in the development of Nigeria’s mobile telecommunications infrastructure, according to official figures.
Since its inception in August 2001, MTN has steadily expanded its network coverage throughout Nigeria. As of now, the company provides services in 223 cities and towns, more than 10,000 villages and communities, and an increasing number of highways throughout the country, which includes all 36 states of Nigeria as well as the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja. This is the first time many of these towns and communities have had access to the world of telecommunications since the beginning of time.
The 3,400-kilometer YelloBahn, which serves as the company’s digital microwave transmission backbone, was dedicated by President Olusegun Obasanjo in January 2003 and is widely considered to be the most comprehensive digital microwave transmission infrastructure in all of Africa. The Y’elloBahn has made a substantial contribution to the improvement of call quality on the MTN network.
The company’s key brand values of leadership, partnership, integrity, innovation, and ‘can-do’ are the foundation of its operations. In addition to linking people with friends, family, and opportunities, it takes pleasure in being able to make the seemingly impossible, possible.
MTN Nigeria has also recently expanded its network capacity to include a new numbering range with the prefix 0806, making it the first GSM network in Nigeria to have adopted an additional numbering system after exhausting its initial subscriber numbering range – 0803. This makes MTN the first GSM network in Nigeria to have adopted an additional numbering system.
MTN Nigeria has also created a self-help toll-free 181 customer-care line, as part of its commitment to providing high-quality customer support. Through this line, users can get answers to their frequently asked concerns without having to pay any fees.
MTN’s overarching mission is to serve as a catalyst for Nigeria’s economic growth and development, assisting in the unlocking of the country’s significant developmental potential not only through the provision of world-class communications services, but also through the implementation of innovative and sustainable corporate social responsibility programs.
