Vitali and his brother Wladimir had appealed to the international community for assistance in the face of Russian hostility in a video posted by Michael Benson, online boxing editor for talkSPORT.com, on the first day of the Russian invasion.
“Wladimir Klitschko and Vitali Klitschko issue a joint video appeal after Vladimir Putin began an invasion of Ukraine by Russia,” Benson stated on Twitter.
In the video, Vitali says, “I’m appealing to all international partners to pay attention to the tragedy unfolding in Ukraine right now, as well as the pointless war that will produce only losers. I’d like to emphasize the importance of remaining unified in the face of Russian aggression. Allowing this to continue in Ukraine, Europe, and eventually the rest of the globe is unacceptable. We are more powerful when we work together.”
