Xavi set to bench three heavyweights for Barcelona vs Athletic Club

Manager Xavi is anticipated to rest up to three first-team players for Barcelona’s home match against Athletic Club, owing to a virtually flawless infirmary under his control.

Due to the fact that players have returned from their various injuries, the Terrassa-born coach is no longer short of options, which means that he is likely to test his bench strength by allowing a few players some well-deserved rest.

And, according to Cule Mania, players like as Ferran Torres, Frenkie de Jong, and club captain Sergio Busquets could be among those who are expected to be dismissed from the squad.

Ferran Torres, in all respect, has earned the right to take a break. While it is true that the former Valencia winger has accrued several minutes since joining from Manchester City, it is also crucial to note that he was in fact rehabilitating from an injury at the time of his arrival.

Furthermore, the 21-year-old hasn’t really lived up to his full potential since assisting on a goal in Barça’s 4-2 triumph over Atletico Madrid on October 1.

De Jong, on the other hand, has been in excellent form of late, having scored a goal in each of his past two games in all competitions. As a result, it is safe to argue that taking a vacation from the starting XI would be beneficial.

However, Busquets has been the victim of great inconsistency throughout his career. The experienced midfielder was benched for the first leg of the Europa League tie against Napoli, and a certain Nico Gonzalez has done admirably in his absence whenever it has been necessary.

Meanwhile, Xavi must manage the fatigue of Gerard Pique and Ronald Araujo, who have played a pivotal role in practically every single game this season, according to Xavi. Araujo, in fact, has not yet regained his full fitness due to the fact that he only had a limited amount of time to rehabilitate.

As for the rest of the squad, full-back Dani Alves, along with midfielder Gavi, are both expected to return to the starting lineup after missing out on the Europa League match.

However, while the changes are looming, Xavi must keep in mind that Athletic Club have a strong record against his team this season, having won one and drawn one of their two games in all competitions this season. And, in order to overcome his dismal record, he has assembled the following team of players:

Defenders: Dest, Pique, Araujo, Alves, Lenglet, Mingueza, Garcia Goalkeepers: ter Stegen, Neto, Tenas Goalkeepers: ter Stegen, Neto, Tenas
Midfielders: Busquets, Puig, Nico, Pedri, de Jong, Gavi; Forwards: Dembele, Memphis, Traore, Braithwaite, Luuk, Torres, Aubameyang; Defenders: Busquets, Puig, Nico, Pedri, de Jong, Gavi; Defenders: Busquets, Puig, Nico, Pedri, de Jong, Gavi; Defenders
