The SMART scholarship entails a £2000 discount on your first year of tuition fees, which will be applied to your first year of tuition expenses. No separate application is required; the scholarship is awarded as part of the admissions process and is based on your application to study; there is no separate scholarship application form to complete. Candidates who have been offered a position will be notified by mail.

 

 

Eligibility
Every year, the SMART application is open from August through December, with rewards being given out in the spring after the application deadline. Take a look at the eligibility conditions listed below to be sure you qualify for this life-changing opportunity.
The following requirements must be met by all applicants: • they must be a citizen of the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or the United Kingdom at the time of application; • they must be 18 years of age or older as of August 1, 2022; and
At least one year of degree financing prior to graduation (which begins on the program start date) is required. Additionally, students must be able to complete at least one summer internship before graduation (multi-year scholars only)

 

How to apply for jobs and scholarship in Canada
If you meet the following requirements, you will be considered: • a student in good standing with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale, • pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in one of the 21 STEM disciplines listed below, • able to produce a fall 2021 college transcript from a regionally accredited US college or university, OR be pursuing a graduate degree at a regionally accredited US college or university.
Active duty military members who intend to apply for the SMART Scholarship must be separated from duty or on terminal leave on or before August 1, 2022, in order to be considered for the scholarship award. Members of the Reserves and National Guard are able to submit an application. Current ROTC participants who have made a commitment to serve in the military in the future are ineligible to apply.

What kind of STEM do you mean?
The program is designed to attract students who are interested in pursuing subjects that are vital to the Department of Defense’s national security activities (DoD). The following is a list of the 21 STEM fields that have been authorized by SMART. Applicants’ specific majors or fields of study may fall under any one or more of the disciplines on this list, which serve as generic umbrella subjects for all applicants.

Please keep in mind that SMART does not approve or sponsor non-technical degrees, such as those in management, the arts, or the humanities.
The following fields of study are available: Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering; Biosciences; Biomedical Engineering; Chemical Engineering; Chemistry; Civil Engineering; Cognitive, Neural, and Behavioural Sciences. The following fields of study are available: Electrical Engineering; Environmental Sciences and Geosciences. The following fields of study are available: Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, and Ocean Engineering.

What you need to know is as follows:
In accordance with degree requirements, scholarships are provided for a minimum of one year and a maximum of five years of financial support. SMART is a one-to-one commitment; for every year of degree financing received, the scholar agrees to serve for the Department of Defense as a civilian employee for one year.

Candidates for undergraduate admissions must be currently enrolled in a regionally accredited institution or university in the United States.

• Must be able to provide a college transcript from the fall of 2021 (or earlier) at the end of the term. • Advanced Placement coursework is not recognized college credit.

Graduate applicants • Must be presently enrolled in a regionally accredited U.S. college or university, or they must be awaiting news of admission to a regionally approved institution.
• If you are awaiting admission, you must be accepted for admission to the autumn 2022 semester.
Is there a limit on how many people can apply for the SMART scholarship?

To be eligible for the SMART scholarship, you must meet the following requirements: • Be an international tuition fee-paying student; • Have accepted an offer for a full-time taught degree at Staffordshire University; and • Have completed an application form (Stoke-on-Trent, Stafford, and London campuses only). These courses do not include nursing undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, paramedic science, operating department practice, social work, and midwifery training, as well as blended and remote learning courses.

If you are receiving full or partial funding for your studies from a sponsor or other scholarship provider, you will not be eligible. If you are applying to study a Staffordshire University course at a partner institution, you will not be eligible. If you receive any other Staffordshire University scholarship or discount, you will not be eligible. The scholarship or discount with the largest value will be used if you are also eligible for another Staffordshire University scholarship or discount. • Are submitting an application for admission to the Master of Science in Research program

Applicants should apply for the scholarship at the beginning of their studies at the University, and the amount will be taken from their tuition costs.

A fee discount is given in the form of a scholarship, and this will be shown on your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)
• Valid for students starting in September 2022 or January 2023, and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or if the offer is deferred to a later intake period.
When is the deadline for submission?
There is no deadline for applying for the SMART scholarship, but you must submit your application with enough time to meet all of the conditions of your offer and obtain a visa in order to arrive in time for the start of International Welcome Week in September 2022 or January 2023, depending on when you submit your application.

Our International Admissions staff will review all applications from eligible candidates and determine whether or not they are eligible for a scholarship. When you receive your offer letter, you will be informed of your scholarship award, and the discount will be applied to your first-year tuition rate by default.
