2022/2023 HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA (HND) ADMSSION
The Management of Maritime Academy of Nigeria hereby invites suitable and qualified candidates for admission into various Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes of the Academy for the 2022/2023 Academic Session.
Online registration will commence on Monday, 11th July 2022 and end on Friday, 2nd September 2022.
The duration of Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes is two (2) years, divided into four (4) semesters. The following programmes are on offer:
- – Nautical Science
- – Marine Engineering
- – Maritime Transport and Business Management

1.0 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
I. MODE OF CORRESPONDENCE
Candidates seeking admission into the Academy must have a functional and accessible electronic mail (e-mail) address and mobile phone number for correspondence. Candidates are not required to present themselves physically except on invitation through the Website Publication and E-mail/text messages.
II. SSCE/ND REQUIREMENTS.
A. Nautical Science
i. Applicants Must possess Senior Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent with at least FIVE CREDIT passes in subjects which must include.
– Mathematics
– English Language,
– Physics
– Geography,
– and any other related Science subjects obtained in NOT MORE THAN TWO SITTINGS.

Applicants Must possess a National Diploma Certificate in Nautical Science with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or other institutions accredited by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and listed with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Also, candidates must have JAMB Registration number.
iii. Applicants Must have completed a minimum of one-year post-ND Industrial Training with evidence or must have acquired a minimum of one-year cognate work experience in a relevant organisation.
iv. Candidates with PASS at National Diploma level from Maritime Academy of Nigeria must have completed a minimum of two years Post-ND Industrial Training with evidence or must have acquired a minimum of two-year cognate work experience in a relevant organisation.
B. Marine Engineering
i. Applicants Must possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent with at least FIVE CREDIT passes in subjects which must include:
– Mathematics
– English Language,
– Physics,
– Chemistry,
– and any other related Science subjects obtained in NOT MORE THAN TWO SITTINGS
ii. Applicants Must possess a National Diploma Certificate in Marine Engineering with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or other institution accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and listed with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Also, candidates must have JAMB Registration number.
iii Applicant with ND in Boat and Ship Building Technology obtained from Maritime Academy of Nigeria with a CGPA not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) are eligible to apply.
iv. Applicants Must have completed a minimum of one-year post-ND Industrial Training with evidence or must have acquired a minimum of one-year cognate work experience in a relevant organisation.
v. Candidates with PASS at National Diploma level from Maritime Academy of Nigeria must have completed a minimum of two years Post-ND Industrial Training with evidence or must have acquired a minimum of two – years cognate work experience in a relevant organisation.
C. Maritime Transport and Business Management
i. Applicants Must possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent with at least FIVE CREDIT passes in subjects which must include:
– Mathematics,
– English Language,
– Economics,
– and any two of Geography, Commerce, Government, Financial Accounting and Business Management obtained in NOT MORE THAN TWO SITTINGS.
ii. Applicants Must possess a National Diploma Certificate in Maritime Transport and Business Studies with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or other institutions accredited by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and listed with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Also, candidates must have JAMB Registration number
iii. Applicants Must have completed a minimum of one-year post-ND Industrial Training with evidence or acquired a minimum of one-year cognate work experience in a relevant organization.
iv. Applicants with PASS at National Diploma level from Maritime Academy of Nigeria must have completed a minimum of two years post-ND Industrial Training with evidence or acquired a minimum of two – years cognate work experience in a relevant organisation.
2.0. ACADEMY TRANSCRIPT
Academic Transcript of Applicants from other accredited institution must reach the Office of the Coordinator Academic Affairs on or before the Closure of application portal via the email address admission@maritimeacademy.gov.ng.
3.0. PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL FITNESS
Due to the peculiar requirements of the Institution and the maritime industry as well as International Convention on Standard of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) 95 as amended which mandates all seafarer to be physically and mentally fit to work in the maritime industry, all applicants are expected to be physically and mentally fit to be able to withstand the rigours/challenges of the cadetship training. Consequently, shortlisted candidates will be required to present themselves for physical and medical screening when invited.
4.0. APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Eligible candidate should take the following steps to start their registration:
1. Click on Admission – HND/ND Registration Portal
– Create an Account
– Login using your Account Credentials
– Generate RRR
– Select the Mode of Payment of your Choice
– Proceed to the banks of your choice to make payment Via Remita Payment Platform or pay online
– Return to the Academy Portal to complete your Registration.
2. Candidate must download Applicant Medical Examination Form (Form M) from the application portal. This form must be duly completed and signed before upload on the portal.
3. Candidate are expected to undergo the following medical test at any Government Hospital and upload medical result on the application portal.

The medical test must be carried out within 11th July 2022 and 2nd September 2022.

he online registration for the Maritime Academy of Nigeria Post-UTME Screening Exercise for the admission into National Diploma (ND) programmes for the 2022/2023 Academic Session will commence on the 12th September 2022 to 11th October 2022.
The duration of National Diploma (ND) programmes is two (2) years, divided into four (4) semesters.

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
1. Eligible Candidates
Candidates who select Maritime Academy of Nigeria as their First(1st) Choice Institution in the 2022 UTME and scored above the required cut-off Mark as stated below are eligible for post-UTME registration.

a. Nautical Science – 175
b. Marine Engineering – 175
c. Electrical/Electronic Engineering -175
d. Maritime Transport and Business Studies – 160

5. PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL FITNESS

6. Marital Status Applicants must be single and shall remain single throughout the duration of the programme.
7. Age Limit
– Candidates applying for Nautical Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering and Marine Engineering must be between the ages of 16 and 21 as at 31st October 2022 Candidates applying for Maritime Transport and Business Studies must be between the ages of 16 and 25 as at 31st October 2022
8. APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Eligible candidate should take the following steps to start their registration procedure:
1. Click on Admission � HND/ND Registration Portal
– Login with UTME number as Username and Jamb Score as Password
– Generate a RRR and Print the Payment Slip
– Proceed to any of the banks of your choice to make payment using Remita Payment Platforms
– Return to the Academy Portal to complete your Registration.
9. COMMENCEMENT/CLOSING DATE
