Selection & Eligibility Criteria

The scholarship selection committee will review applicants’ academic achievements and extracurricular engagements to determine the award winner. Financial circumstances will not be considered in this determination. To be eligible for this award, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Should be planning on becoming a nurse
  • Must be enrolled, or accepted, at an accredited school
  • Continuing their studies in the upcoming academic year
  • Have at least 30 semester or 45 quarter degree hours remaining
  • Agree to provide with a digital photograph and quote to be displayed on the site should they receive the award
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or hold Permanent U.S. Resident Status

Graduating high school seniors are welcome to apply if they have been accepted on an undergraduate course and meet all the above criteria.


After the application deadline has passed, the scholarship winner will be contacted by the selection committee and will obtain an award of $500, to the permanent address listed in their application, in the form of a check.

Note: If an individual’s total academic award prizes exceed $600 in a one-year period, the IRS will issue form 1099 (or equivalent). Consequently, certain personal information will need to be provided to before scholarship funds can be received by the winner.

Resources for Future Nurses

The demand for nurses is growing in the U.S., so there are many opportunities for career progression once qualified. To become a licensed nurse, individuals need to obtain a college degree and pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) Nursing Exam. Many nursing schools also require an entrance exam like HESI or TEAS before securing a place on a nursing program.

There are different types of nurses, Registered Nurses (RN) and Practical Nurses (PN), that require different certification exams. To become an RN, an individual will need to take NCLEX-RN and to become a PN, individuals need to pass the NCLEX-PN. There are eligibility requirements for NCLEX exams, so it is best to check you meet these criteria before registering for the exam. 1. How does receiving this scholarship from help you further your education and ultimately reach your career goals?

Receiving this scholarship from will help me further my education of becoming a registered nurse. This will allow me to focus on my education and clinical experience. I hope to continue with my bachelor’s degree and master’s to become a Nurse Practitioner.

2. How did you hear about our scholarship?

I heard about this scholarship through a friend who had also received one while she was in school. She gave me the information and I also found it through browsing for nursing scholarships.

3. Which university do you plan to attend or currently attend?

I am currently attending Pueblo Community College in Mancos, Colorado.
