What to watch out for NIN registration Currently, only about 41.5 million Nigerians out of an estimated 200 million active phone subscribers have NIN, the
world Nin sound too pleasant but not as easy as you think why most Nigerians have not registered is because of the
attitude of the way our system operates in terms of doing there stuffs. Several concerned Nigerians had expressed
concern over the sudden directive of the Federal Government and had asked that the deadline given for the registration be
extended but the government has remained adamant. and most persons will be traveling for a holiday which will lead to
blockage of their sim cards are we saying that most Nigerians will be out of line come 2021, that is the biggest imagination we
cant all tell about another case to watch about is what the NIN registration will cause for those who have not yet registered will
be spreading out the virus we all know most persons will never come to the registration center with nose mask or there won’t
be social distance compliance to obey, we all want to be first at all time (in any registration ) The Socio-Economic Rights and
Accountability Project had described the order as an abuse of human rights and threatened to sue the Federal Government
within seven days if it is not rescinded. ( What is NIN?
The National Identification Number (NIN) is the unique number that identifies you as a Nigerian and is issued to you at the completion of enrolment into the National Identity Database (NIDB) by NIMC. Once a NIN is assigned to an individual, it can never be reassigned, given, or used by another person – that makes it unique in nature. All citizens and legal residents in Nigeria, from age zero (birth) and above are eligible to enroll for their NINs.
What to watch out for NIN registration
The Federal Government recently approved the licensing of 173 centres and 30 state government institutions to conduct
enrolment of persons into the National Identity Database. However, it was learned that most of these entities could not start the
process immediately because they lacked the infrastructure and equipment to do so.
Telecoms giant, MTN, which is one of the firms given the license to enroll persons into the NIMC database, announced on
Saturday that it was importing 14, 000 devices for the NIN registration, and they are expected to arrive in two weeks.
Meanwhile, several Nigerians have been criticizing the Federal Government on social media over the gathering of large crowds in NIMC’s offices.
Some of them accused NIMC officials of demanding bribes from them. which is the normal Nigeria public service norms. my fear is the danger of spreading the already placed covid 19 viruses we are trying so hard to stop the spread, once again HAPPY XMAS IN ADVANCE
